Chapter 10 : Bath

「… Well, I guess that’s enough for today.」

After I’d visited most of the Royal Academy’s premises and grasped the general layout of the facilities and buildings, I decided to stop, deeming it enough for the time being despite the rudimentary grasp. However, it was impossible to gain impeccable understanding of this academy’s premises in just one day owing to its vast size.

Main institution aside, there were four other school buildings, three dormitories, an arena for combat training, and a research building dedicated for practicing your magic. Frankly, to me, the list of the facilities available in this academy seemed to be endless.

I suppose I’d have to take my time to memorize the layout bit by bit.

Fortunately, I still had two and a half years to do so. That would be plenty of time for me.

I went back to my dormitory, thoughts about my life in this academy starting tomorrow, swirled in my mind.

「…does this suit me, I wonder?」

The next day, I muttered as I looked at my reflection in the mirror within the privacy of my room.

There, I saw my own reflection in the uniform that was provided for all the students in the Royal Academy.

Recently, the law regarding uniforms was slightly slack, what with the introduction of Blazer in many western countries. And though it was made with ease to wear in mind, I’m still worrying about whether the uniform suited me or not.

Back in my own country, I could ask my servants for their objective evaluation in this regard, but unfortunately they’re not here to give me their evaluation right now…nor would they be there to do so in the future either.

And that’s why I’d to evaluate my own appearance in this way.

And according to my own evaluation….

「Not bad I guess….」

That was how I felt about my current appearance.

Well, whether it suited me or not, I must wear this uniform when inside this academy.

After all, while the academy wouldn’t forbid us from wearing our personal attire after school or during holiday, that still didn’t mean anything during any other time. We had to wear this uniform during our school hours.

Naturally several sets of uniforms had been delivered to me, so I wouldn’t have to wear the same uniform every day. And, I had placed all of them inside my closet, awaiting their turn to be worn.

For a noble, washing clothes was originally their servant’s duty, but I guess I had no other choice than to do it myself.

Well, I might be able to do something in that regard since “Dry” and “Wash” was amongst the 1st tier sorcery.

[ED: One of the few (or many, but who’s counting?) things I’m envious of. I want magic to ease my household chores too!]

[ PR: Sorcery?! It’s called Washer and Dryer.]

It wasn’t the kind of sorcery that was known by the general populace, thus unless you’re a collector -like me who’d mastered all 1st tier magic- one usually never learnt those two sorceries.

It was an extremely efficient sorcery for washing and drying my uniform in an instant.

Nevertheless, the reason why it was rare to the point that it almost looked like an exclusive sorcery was because these sorceries need extremely fine controls and skills. Should one lack those, then it’d fail, and failure would turn one’s clothes into rags, or worse sand.

Naturally, I wouldn’t make such mistakes.

Let’s see now, uniform- check, necessary luggage for today- check.

Well, I suppose it’s time for me to depart.

Just when I think that,

―― Konkon! [SFX : Knocking the door]

Someone was knocking on my door. Someone had come to visit me this fine morning.

Honestly, that knock rather surprised me. Thus, I tried to ask the identity of my visitor.

「…. Who might it be? 」

「Ah, that voice is Ryuu’s. So you really got this room, huh. It’s me, Conrad. We made a promise to go together, right? 」

My visitor, Conrad, replied.

I see, so the visitor was my acquaintance, huh. And, I did recall that I’d made him such a promise yesterday.

As such, I opened the door and welcomed Conrad into my room.

「…. How did you find my room? I thought we’ll meet at the courtyard where we met yesterday.」

I had yet to tell Conrad the location of my room after all. However, logically, the reason why he was able to come to my place this morning was most likely because he knew the location of my room beforehand.

And, I’m sure of that fact. That’s why the only thing left in my mind was the curiosity about the method he used.

Conrad answered my question without any reservation.

「Because, before you transferred here, I knew that this is the only vacant room in the dormitory. And, well, this kind of room is basically a double room that is reserved for those with high statuses…besides, if Ryuu had roommates, the rumours are bound to spread like wildfire. Since I’ve never heard those sort of rumours, I thought that you might be allocated this room…and it turned out I’m correct, right.」

「I see. You’re correct…But. I still can’t believe that the headmaster gave me permission to use this double room by myself. Honestly, I have no idea what to do with so much space.」

I said to Conrad, who agreed with me, as I looked around the room.

「But woooow. This room is almost five times bigger than a normal room. Uwaa, it even has a bathtub complete with the all purpose sorcery formulae, this is just…. awesome!」

「Yeah, it seems so. I liked it too.」

Although I was prepared to use the public bath facilities on the first floor if there was no bathtub in my room, acquaintance aside, I was still extremely reluctant to have those kind of naked socializing with someone I’ve never met before.

That’s why, the moment I knew that my room was equipped with its own bathtub, I felt grateful from the bottom of my heart.

Conrad’s eyes opened wide at the sight of the bathtub.

「Are you…… Using this? The user must’ve used a considerable amount of mana to use this bathtub, right? 」

Even if he asked me that… I shook my head since it didn’t take that much in fact.

「Nope, it doesn’t take that much from me. Well, rather than that, it’s more like there are tricks in using this sort of magic tool efficiently without exhausting your mana.」

「What do you mean? 」

「For example, only inject your mana when you’re using the shower, or just use enough of your mana to warm the water in the bathtub and stop instead of supplying it continuously to keep it warm….. Well, you won’t get the gist of the trick unless you are used to it. I mean, even I come so close to exhausting my mana when I first used bathtub and all purpose sorcery formulae, but now, I’m used to it.」

To be exact, I’m used to this type of bathtub because my house also used this type.

And while someone might get a rough estimation about my family’s power, if they knew that my house used this kind of bathtub, this really wasn’t such a big deal for Viscount house and higher peers.

Naturally, these types of magic tools usually weren’t found in a house without a strong bloodline in sorcery. After all, only those who were excellent sorcerers could use this magic tool with ease. Thus, this type of magic tool could only be easily found in a house that gave birth to many excellent sorcerers.

Conrad nodded in understanding.

「I see now. That means it isn’t that rare in a house that gave birth to many excellent sorcerers huh. Well, that means I can depend on you to help me in the sorcery studies then.」

Conrad smiled as he said those words.
