He Yu took Su Qiuzi to the car, shut the door, and left the Su Family’s mansion. Su Qiuzi saw the three Su family members standing in front of the entrance through the car mirror.

Su Gongcheng looked stern and pointed at Su Ai as he said something, which made her so furious that she turned around and rushed to her bedroom. The car was getting farther and farther away from the Su Family’s mansion and soon, even the tall Christmas tree in the courtyard was out of sight.

Su Qiuzi took a careful look at the man who was driving beside her.

As the car drove to the intersection, the red light came on and the car stopped before the zebra crossing. He Yu held the steering wheel, his handsome face lit by the streetlamp lights passing through the trees. He looked straight ahead with a tight jawline and a deep look in his eyes.

He felt a bit uncomfortable with how he lost his temper on Christmas Eve.

The silence in the car made the brooding He Yu gradually come back to his senses. His gaze lightened and he glanced sideways at Su Qiuzi, who was sitting next to him.

His wife’s slender body leaned back in her seat, well behaved like a kitten, and her brown eyes looked at him with some wonder in them. Sensing him looking over, her vision was disrupted and she scrambled to retract her gaze. Slightly bowing her head, she whispered, “Actually, I really don’t need to go to the hospital.”

Back at the dining room, she was aware of the maid’s restlessness and kept a watchful eye. By the time the maid dropped the bowl of soup, she had evaded so that only a splash landed on the back of her hand.

Next thing she knew, she subconsciously screamed out. She didn’t expect He Yu to come over and even more so, she didn’t expect that he would directly take her away with him regardless of manners. What the men had said in the Su Family’s mansion was still reverberating in her ears and Su Qiuzi’s face was a little hot.

She found that He Yu was really angry. Before that, she never thought such a refined man could become so angry like that.

He Yu had a good control of his emotions and rarely would get angry. This time, there wasn’t much to talk about being angry, it was just the scalded red spot on the back of Su Qiuzi’s hand that made him feel a little irritated deep down. She had been living peacefully and happily at his house, and returned to her home only to have the back of her hand burned. He was there but he couldn’t protect her well enough. He couldn’t imagine how much she had been hurt when he wasn’t around.

He looked at her quietly, dark shadows flickering in his eyes. Su Qiuzi’s heart tightened at the sight and, with a dry smile, she lifted her hand and showed it to He Yu, surprising him, “Alas, look, the wound has already recovered.”

The moment her words fell, He Yu looked at her with a gentle expression and laughed lightly.

Hearing him laugh, Su Qiuzi also laughed and her heart was warmed as she looked at him. It was the first time that someone cared so much about her getting hurt.

The atmosphere in the car eased and the green light came on. He Yu started the car and asked, “Are we going home, then?”

“Mmm.” Su Qiuzi nodded her head and when she heard He Yu talk about going home, she subconsciously thought of the Ran Feng Mansion in her mind. She had spent more than twenty years in the Su Family’s mansion and yet, it wasn’t as comfortable as living in the Ran Feng Mansion for a few months, which made her feel at home.

The house would feel hollow as people and feelings were the root of the home.

“Actually, the maid’s cooking wasn’t even good.” Su Qiuzi shared with He Yu, who was driving the car. After saying that, the man looked at her and Su Qiuzi complimented, “It’s far worse than what you did anyway.”

He Yu looked ahead, the corners of his lips slightly raised. “What do you want to eat?”

Su Qiuzi smiled and said, “I like to eat whatever my husband makes.”

It was true that He Yu had made Su Qiuzi enjoy it all, whether in the kitchen or on the bed.

At the end of her husband’s finishing move, Su Qiuzi wrapped her arms around him and saw a gorgeous scene before her eyes. She gasped slightly, her arms not letting go, feeling the man’s heartbeat pounding against her chest.

He Yu let her cling to him for fear that she would not be able to withstand his strength, so he wrapped his arms around her waist and held her in his arms. The two were rarely so intimate afterward, and He Yu felt warm and kissed her earlobe.

“What’s wrong?” His voice was low.

Su Qiuzi hugged him and looked at the pitch-black ceiling, and she didn’t know what was wrong. After marrying He Yu, her life seemed to have fallen into a dream and she was drowning in it, not wanting to wake up. But the dreams after all were only dreams, and again she had to remind herself to be awake and strong.

But what He Yu did tonight made her wonder if it was true, if she had actually become tough and used to it. Now she longed to be gentler, relishing for a while his tenderness, covering her up and making her fall through the dreams.

She loosened her arms and looked up at him in silence. He Yu saw what was gradually changing in her eyes, and she giggled.
