Chapter 56: Is Tang Jin Your Real Daughter? (3)
Nie Weiru remembered the time when Ye Fan canceled her credit card. She held back her anger and tried to soften her voice.
“Tell the media that even though you’re Tang Jin’s stand-in, she still did most of the scenes herself. This matter was blown out of proportions, it won’t be good for you either…”
But before she could finish, Ye Fan lowered her teacup to the table, setting it down with a dull thud.
Nie Weiru suddenly stopped.
Ye Fan slowly retracted her hands and leaned back on her chair, looking at Nie Weiru.
After a brief glance at her, Ye Fan began without hurry, “Why should I do that?”
That movement was so simple, but when Ye Fan did it, every move seemed elegant.
But seeing that caused Nie Weiru’s heart to shudder inexplicably.
Ye Fan’s eyes were too calm, like they were looking right into her heart. It felt like there was nowhere for her to hide any of her little thoughts.
Nie Weiru froze. But when she thought about Tang Jin’s pitiful appearance, she straightened her back again.
“You still need to develop your career in the entertainment circle, so you should brush up your relationship with a big star like Tang Jin. You’ll only regret it in the future if you don’t listen to me now.”
On the surface, it seemed like she was thinking for Ye Fan’s sake, but she actually wanted Ye Fan to concede to Tang Jin.
Ye Fan suddenly laughed, but that laugh was ice cold. “So you care about Tang Jin that much?”
Nie Weiru was instantly flustered, and it was hard to keep her expression calm.
Ye Fan put away her smile and said coldly, “You’ve been telling me to step back for Tang Jin as soon as I came in here. Have you forgotten that I am Tang Jin’s stand-in? She herself is the cause of all this criticism.”
A flash of mockery emerged in Ye Fan’s eyes. “On the other hand, I’d like to ask you. What is your relationship with Tang Jin? Is Tang Jin really that important in your heart?”
Nie Weiru’s face turned white as a sheet in a moment.
Ye Fan went on, her eyes growing colder. “By the way, let me remind you that Tang Jin is a really big star, so even if you’re on a rush to speak for her, she still won’t remember your good deeds.”
Slowly, she spoke, her clear voice ringing in Nie Weiru’s ears. “After all, the two of you are strangers.”
Ye Fan’s each and every word was laced with taunting. When Tang Jin and the original Ye Fan were swapped as babies, her own daughter had left her for so many years and would only treat her as a stranger now.
This is all Nie Weiru’s own doing.
Every one of her words were like sharp daggers, stabbing straight into Nie Weiru’s heart. She tried to open her mouth, and yet no words would come.
Ye Fan didn’t look at Nie Weiru any longer. She stood up and prepared to leave. At this moment, the door was opened. Ye Li walked in.
After looking through the smear posts on Tang Jin, Ye Li felt great. When she saw Ye Fan, she said, “Sis, you haven’t given us any living expenses for a long time.”
Ye Fan stopped in her steps and leaned against the door.
Coldly, she said to her, “You want money? Ask your mother.”
Ye Fan glanced at the table with a few tables stacked on top of it. All of them had Tang Jin’s faces on the cover.
Ye Li sneered and calmly jabbed at her, “She’s got the money, and she’s spending it on Tang Jin’s magazines.”
Ye Li looked over to the table, and there really was a stack of Tang Jin’s magazines on top of it. Immediately, she complained, “Mom, you’re already so old, what are you catching up with celebrities for? Aren’t you worried people will laugh at you if they find out?”
“What’s more, Tang Jin’s a terrible person.” Ye Li ignored Nie Weiru’s increasingly dark face and went on, “If you’re going to waste money like that, you might as well buy me more clothes.”
Nie Weiru was pissed. “Shut up.”
But Ye Li went on by herself. “What did I say wrong? It was Tang Jin who did something wrong. Why can’t I say the truth?”
“If you ask me, then those people on the internet better scold her more, and Duan Qi would be better off if he broke up with her too. She’s not worthy of Duan Qi.”
Nie Weiru suddenly raised her voice. “You shut your mouth!”
Nie Weiru suddenly stepped forward and pulled Ye Li’s ear in rebuttal. “If you want new clothes then go find a job! You’re so old and all you can ask for is money. Why don’t you go out and earn some money for the family instead?”
