Chapter 2: Unknowingly Transmigrated

On the big tree she was leaning on just now, she saw large and black colored snake-like bugs the sizes of cockroaches. However, what shocked her to the point she turned pale wasn’t that. It was the fact these bugs were outlining her silhouette when she was leaning on that tree.

The bugs themselves looked somewhat strange to Lu Qiu. It had two antennas that were perpetually raised above its head, three segments to its body, and six legs. But, it wasn’t a cockroach like she first assumed since it lacked wings that that species has.

And from the way it moved, she was sure it was something she had seen before. However, she was certain the species she saw weren’t as huge as the one that appeared before her right now.

Slowly, Lu Qiu felt her scalp become numb. And she couldn’t help but to pat her shoulder frantically with her hands to remove the bugs. However, she feared it would crawl on her body if she went back to the tree.

Therefore, she backed away from the tree cautiously. She couldn’t stay under that tree despite not having any other place to seek shelter from.

Thinking of that point, she hesitated for a moment. However, unknown to her, under the thick piles of fallen leaves she was standing over, there was a huge black thing crawling slowly. And it slowly came out from the fallen leaves, revealing its grotesque shape.

Lu Qiu stumbled and looked on at the pitch black thing that was one meter long with horror. Her eyes involuntarily followed along with the black thing’s movement that was akin to a snake, then took in the thick shells that covered its body. Before at last looking at the long and pointed needle-like legs attached to its body.

As her mind slowly registered this fact, her pupils shrank in an instant. She immediately ran forward blindly, panic overcoming her rationality as her back was drenched in cold sweat.

As she ran, it dawned to her what the pitch black thing she saw was. It turned out the crawling and coiling snake-like bug was a one meter long centipede.

What the hell is going on in this forest?! What are these things?!

However, she couldn’t stop right at this moment to think over her question. Why? Because as soon as she moved, the centipede immediately chased after her. And it was extremely fast. The originally comfortable thick and squishy fallen leaves she stood on had now become a stumbling block for her escape.

Sure enough, she hadn’t yet run for ten minutes, but she had abruptly lost her footing and directly fell to the ground.

She was completely unaware that under those fallen leaves there was a pit which she had involuntarily stepped on while she was fleeing for her life.

So, she ended up stumbling and rolling onto the ground again. Her knees, that took the brunt of the fall and hit the ground for a few times, was for sure going to get bruised.

Meanwhile, the centipede had already caught up to her while she was busy rolling on the ground. When Lu Qiu held herself up, ready to run again, she saw the centipede was preparing to strike her. So, she closed her eyes in despair, exhausted. She didn’t expect her death was going to be so miserable; to die by being eaten by a mutated insect.

However, at the moment she had given up all resistance, she heard a short scream coming from above the tree. It was a sound made by a giant bird. She opened her eyes and saw a bird that was as tall as a human flapped down to the ground.

As Lu Qiu looked at the bird, she saw that the span of its open wings was very wide; it was able to almost completely obscure the faint light of moonlight that broke through to the forest ground.

In the dark, the bird’s eyes glowed faintly and in a flash, it swooped down on the centipede’s back. The bird’s sharp claws then firmly pressed on the centipede’s 7 inches long tail. It used its long, pointed beak to prick the centipede’s head, killing it.

Soon, the one meter long centipede that had threatened her life was swallowed whole by the big bird in front of her.

The scene that had unfolded before her eyes was too stunning. It was something that normally she wouldn’t dare to look at, yet right now, she couldn’t help but to watch. However, it was not for long since her attention shifted to the big bird. She looked at it stiffly, astonishment obvious. How could she not feel that?

The bird was gigantic. Even the placement of the bird’s wings was higher than the height of her breast. And that was when she stood up. For the life of her, she couldn’t think of any bird that was as big as this one before her.

Despite her astonishment, though, right now there was a more pressing matter for her. Because right now, she felt like she had gone out of the wolf den, only to enter the tiger’s den.

And the reason she felt like that was because of this big bird. She felt that even while the bird was eating the centipede, its eyes faintly kept staring at her; as if telling her that if she moved, even for just a tiny bit, she would be the next on its menu.

At this moment, Lu Qiu was mentally exhausted as tears slipped from the corner of her eyes. However, she didn’t dare to wipe it away or move at all despite the pain the tears brought to her already bruised cheeks. Because she was very afraid that movement would cause her to be eaten by the big bird. So, she stayed still, watching the bird eat the centipede slowly. Fortunately, once it finished eating, it fluttered its wings and flew away and disappeared from Lu Qiu’s sight.

Once the bird disappeared, she could feel all her tense energy depleted away. She directly collapsed to the ground, unable to muster the slightest energy to stand.

For the first time in her life, she felt so powerless. She laid on the ground, eyes lifeless as the wind blew, almost freezing her bones. She felt cold all over to the depth of her heart. And right now, she wanted to lay there and cry every grievance she had in her heart.

She wanted to lie down on her warm big bed at her home. She wanted to sleep under her quilt. She just wanted this all to be a very horrifying nightmare that she could wake up from to her safe and comfortable world.

However, the reality she faced didn’t let her dream for long. Centipede were the kind of insect that lived in a group. Therefore, soon, she seemed to hear another centipede creeping out.

She took a moment to listen carefully, even though the sound of something creeping under the leaves was nowhere to be heard for a while. Her effort didn’t go unrewarded. After some time, the rustling sound of animal movement could be heard once more. Therefore, once she ascertained this fact, Lu Qiu quickly leaped up from the ground and continued to run forward.

The further she ran, the more she felt like she was in a thriller or horror movie.

Because all the trees she passed by were all over two meters in diameter. It was gigantic and something she had never seen before. There was even a giant tree with a more than ten meters diameter she saw. It was so wide and so high she could hardly see the end of it, looking almost like a giant wall.

How could there be such a giant tree under the cliff? A cliff that was located in the tourist city at that.

This is not normal. Not normal at all! It’s too abnormal, alright?!

With those huge animals around, is this even still her original world?!

When that thought crossed her mind, Lu Qiu suddenly stopped running.

Only when that thought crossed her mind did she finally realize she might have, or perhaps the correct words were, had unknowingly transmigrated.
