But before Sheng Gu’s words were finished, Shu Nuan let a slap loose on her face.

The smack that rang out wasn’t light, and it startled the whole class.

The room was silent. No one dared to speak.

Sheng Gu was in disbelief for a moment, and she stood there covering half of her face and staring at Shu Nuan.

“You dare to beat This Princess?!” she exclaimed, raising her hand in anger to hit back.

But her hand didn’t fall in time. Shu Nuan caught it and threw it aside.

Shu Nuan then slapped the princess and gave her a cold stare. Without any emotion, she said, “Sheng Gu, is this how weak you are?”

Her words had just fallen, and a voice came from outside the door.

“Presumptuous! Seize that girl!”

Everyone turned to look at the door. They saw an esteemed old lady in expensive clothing. She wore her hair in an exquisite bun, and only the hair near her temples was white. A luxurious red-rimmed satin dress swept across the floor as she walked over.

She was followed by several imperial guards, and accompanying her were several handsome men, all sons of nobles. Shu Nuan recognized one of them: Sheng Zhiyu.

There was also someone supporting the old lady. It was Ji Xili, and she was dressed in a dignified black skirt, far different from when she’d seen her last time. Her attire was splendid like a princess’s. She was also wearing makeup.

The old lady looked angry. Under her orders, Shu Nuan was quickly grabbed by two guards.

Sheng Gu had originally intended to raise her hand to fight back. But she hadn’t expected the Imperial Mother to walk in. She didn’t know when her grandmother had returned to the palace. Just thinking of these previous days, and also of what had happened a few moments ago, she couldn’t help but rush to the empress dowager.[1]

“Grandmother, I thought you would never return. Had you not, I could’ve been bullied to death.”

Ningcheng Yuan was also there. He noticed that Sheng Zhiyu was frowning while staring at the girl who’d been detained.

Thinking something, he nudged at him. “Know her?”

Sheng Zhiyu turned his head and whispered, “It is the little girl from Fourth Brother’s palace.”

Hearing the answer, Ningcheng raised his eyebrows, showing a very surprised expression. He’d always assumed the little girl would be a warm and harmless sheep, and he never could’ve imagined she would be a small wild cat that scratched people.

Moreover… Although she was obviously caught red-handed, her face wasn’t agitated at all. It could even be said that her eyes looked icy and cold, without any emotional ups and downs.

After returning to the palace the day before, Empress Dowager Tai had been tired from the trip and hadn’t had the time to see all the grandchildren. It was sunny on this day, and so she’d called all the young ones to the palace to accompany her. After having heard that Sheng Gu had been admitted to the Yulin Academy, she’d felt glad for her pitiful granddaughter and had planned to surprise her. She’d come to the academy to see Sheng Gu, but she hadn’t expected to find her getting bullied by a classmate.

When a princess was being bullied like this, how could the empress dowager let it go, especially when the princess was crying in her arms? The dowager looked at Shu Nuan angrily, and said, “How dare you! I will punish you! Tell me, whose child are you?”
