Chapter 174: Deceiving Uncle Sheng (73)
–
Ji Xili opened her eyes, her head aching from a hangover. Her mind was still muddled from sleep, so she didn’t feel the heat of the person next to her until she readjusted her arm.
She was stunned and abruptly looked beside her. Sheng Zhiyu was lying there holding onto her waist.
Ji Xili’s breath froze in her throat. Sluggish at first, she pushed his hands away and jumped up from the bed, taking a few unsteady steps away. She examined her body and clothes, finding the latter to be messy but otherwise proper. She fixed her dress before affixing Sheng Zhiyu with a cold stare. Although his robe was intact, she wasn’t relieved.
Her constant movement caused Sheng Zhiyu to wake up. His face took on a look of amazement upon finding Ji Xili staring at him from beside his bed. Just as he was about to ask her something, he realized that he was lying inside Ji Xili’s tent.
It dawned upon him that he’d slept in her tent all night.
Sheng Zhiyu gripped his throat as he fumbled out of the bed. His throat was dry, and he said, “Sister Xili, I–”
“Why are you in my sleeping quarter?” Ji Xili asked in a frigid voice.
Sheng Zhiyu grabbed the back of his head and frowned as he tried to recall what had happened the day before.
After Sheng Qianmo had left the day before, Ji Xili had not been in a good mood. Since she wouldn’t stop drinking when he’d told her to, he could only sigh and join her. By the time they were dead drunk, Sheng Zhiyu hadn’t forgotten about her minor injuries. So to help her bandage, he had come back to her tent with her. But Ji Xili had been uncontrollable in her drunken state, and the task of getting her to sit still so he could apply first-aid had proven to be insurmountable.
Her resistance had led to the two of them being entangled in a drunken wrestling-like scenario, before Ji Xili had pushed him down on the bed.
The look she’d worn while atop was still clear in his mind. It hadn’t been the aloof yet pleasant look she put on for everyone. Her eyes had gleamed with a seductive, powerful light.
He’d given in to the urge of kissing her, and Ji Xili had let him do it.
A short kiss later, Ji Xili had fallen asleep on top of him.
Sheng Zhiyu barely had any control over himself in his intoxicated state. Moreover, he’d had a secret crush on her for years. He continued to kiss her for a while before getting the nerve to slip the shoulder of her dress off and kiss her on the collarbone hard, as if wanting to mark her.
After doing this, he’d fallen asleep as well.
But when he woke up, he remembered these things, and he regretted it a little. He was afraid that Ji Xili would remember and hated him if she remembered what happened last night.
Now that he was awake, he regretted his actions. He was afraid Ji Xili remembered his lascivious behavior and would come to hate him.
That was the last thing he wanted to see.
Sheng Zhiyu said, “Last night, we all drank too much… I… I came back to bandage your injuries…”
Ji Xili frowned and asked, “You mean we were both drunk?”
Sheng Zhiyu looked at her and paused for a moment, coming to the conclusion that she probably didn’t remember that he’d kissed her last night. He felt an inexplicable loss upon thinking this, but he nodded and said, “Yes…”
Ji Xili breathed a sigh of relief, before snorting like an enraged bull.
“If you dare to be so pretentious again, you’ll see what I’ll do to you!”
Saying this, Ji Xili was naturally angry. After all, they both grew up together and they were drunk last night. Where would she really blame him?
Although Ji Xili’s heart was boiling in rage, they’d grown up together, and they both had been drunk the previous night. She couldn’t find much room to blame him.
