Chapter 176: Deceiving Uncle Sheng (75)
Ji Xili arrived late, when Sheng Qianmo and the others had already finished discussing the matter. She listened to their decision and agreed to raid the Changsheng mountain ridge that very night.
After the meeting was over, Sheng Qianmo got up to leave.
Ningcheng snorted and laughed.
“You will have important work to do later at night, so please take it easy!”
Sheng Qianmo stopped to look at him and said, “People like you don’t know how to balance work and pleasure.”
Ningcheng’s eyes darted around as he waited for Sheng Qianmo to leave before reacting. He turned to Su Huang and asked, “Did that guy make fun of me?”
Su Huang gulped down the rest of his wine, got up, and slowly said, “Probably.”
Then, he left.
However, Ji Xili didn’t know that Qianmo had brought Shu Nuan to the barracks. She wore an odd expression on her face and asked, “What are you talking about?”
Ningcheng knew that Xili had liked Qianmo since a young age. Recalling these feelings, he coughed and laughed the matter off.
“It’s nothing, haha. Just… Just kidding…”
After speaking, he hurried to get up, cursing Su Huang in his mind, who he was sure had guessed that Ji Xili would ask this question.
But Xili didn’t let him leave. She stared him down and said, “What is the meaning of this?”
Ningcheng Yuan sighed, knowing that Ji Xili would find out sooner or later, and said, “Yesterday, Brother Qianmo brought Shu Nuan to the barracks.”
Ji Xili’s expression turned stiff. For a long time, she couldn’t find the words to speak, and she understood what they’d been joking about.
Seeing that she wasn’t replying, Ningcheng Yuan sighed and said, “Xili, this won’t sound good, but Qianmo’s not paid you any heed for years now. You shouldn’t…”
But Ji Xili gave him a cold stare and burst out of the tent.
Ningcheng Yuan wore a face of helplessness and turned to Sheng Zhiyu, saying, “It’s my kindness that I tried to persuade her…”
According to Ningcheng Yuan, anyone could see that Sheng Qianmo’s mind was on Shu Nuan. And since he loved that cute girl, Ji Xili should walk away and live her own life.
However, Sheng Zhiyu jumped up from his seat and ran after Ji Xili.
“Ji Xili, where are you going?”
“Don’t follow me,” Ji Xili said after climbing atop a horse, before riding toward the exit of the camp.
Sheng Zhiyu also rode off after she left.
……
Meanwhile, inside Sheng Qianmo’s tent, Shu Nuan didn’t wake up until a little before noon. She was a little confused as she’d just woken up. She lay prone on a pillow with hazy eyes. She rubbed the delicate embroidery on the pillow with her right hand, before sitting up. She still felt weak.
After changing into a cotton-padded jacket, Shu Nuan sat on the couch, hugging the heater. She felt a lot warmer.
It seemed Sheng Qianmo had ordered lunch before he’d left, as a soldier brought in a meal.
After eating, Shu Nuan felt a lot better. However, she did not dare to wander about in the barracks. She stayed in the tent and looked around. She found Sheng Qianmo’s shirt’s cuffs on a cloth rack, and they seemed to be torn.
Shu Nuan went over, took the cuffs down, and took a look. It is evident the cut had been made by a sword.
Since she was bored anyway, she asked the guards outside for thread and needle, which she brought to the couch and began to fix the robe.
Later, Sheng Qianmo finished training his soldiers and returned to his tent.
Shu Nuan was putting the last stitch on the cuffs. She took out the scissor to cut away the thread when she heard footsteps. She looked up and saw Sheng Qianmo walking over. She seemed to want to say something, but Qianmo grabbed the robe and began to appraise it, before looking back at her. She was embarrassed under his gaze, and her otherwise dexterous hands were tangled together. Suddenly, he grabbed her hands, and he said in a mischievous tone, “Help This Prince change.”
Shu Nuan’s hands had been captured by his big hands, and she was blushing now. She glanced at what he was wearing and whispered, “The clothes you’re wearing are obviously fine…”
Sheng Qianmo was quite serious as he replied, “This Prince will wear the dress you fixed.”
Shu Nuan raised her eyes and looked at him. For a moment, her eyes seemed to twinkle. She bowed her head and got up to serve him in changing his clothes, and the corner of her mouth had quirked up.
But halfway through changing, Sheng Qianmo grabbed her waist and embraced her, before lowering his head and kissing her.
This time Sheng Qianmo didn’t toss her like he’d lost himself. He kissed her without frightening her.
“Shu Nuan, when This Prince returns, you must let me have a good time,” he said. Then he sat down on the couch still holding her.
Shu Nuan was stunned, her little face blushing. She avoided his implication and instead mumbled, “Where are you going, Your Highness?”
Sheng Qianmo didn’t intend to hide his plans.
“Tonight, I will leave for Changsheng mountain ridge, and I will be back in three days. When the battle is over, I will accompany you on a trip to Yu Shuicheng.”
