Chapter 17: Erbao’s Concerns (1)

Cheng Man’An screamed, reaching out to wipe her face. She furiously asked: “What are you doing?!!”

Gu Yuanyuan took a couple of steps back and put down the glass of water: “I’m sorry, I didn’t hold it steady just now. Sister, please don’t blame me.”

She blinked her eyes to show sincerity.

Cheng Man’An abruptly swallowed the curses that she was about to blurt out as soon as she heard footsteps coming from outside the hallway. Now, her hair and upper clothes were wet while her eyes were tinted red: “I didn’t expect you for a long time to…”

She was about to make a scene, to the people entering that she was being bullied by Gu Yuanyuan. Unfortunately, it was Xiao Zhou who came over: “Xiao Jiu …”

Seeing Cheng Man’An, she just stood there not responding and staring at her.

Cheng Man’An swallowed the words that she was about to say since she knew that acting had no use in front of Xiao Zhou. If she stayed any longer, she would only become more angry; thus, Cheng Man’an turned around and ran out.

Yet, she accidentally bumped into someone, looking up she saw Jian Yan.

As a veteran film emperor, although Jian Yan was old he looked young. In addition to the delighted expression he always held and the fine lines dressing his eyes, his whole being was radiating an interesting and courteous vibe which made him look very professional.

“Mister Jian, I’m sorry.” Cheng Man’An immediately apologized meekly.

“Don’t worry about it,” he said with a smile.

Seeing her hair and wet clothes, he asked with concern: “Is there something wrong?”

Cheng Man’An’s eyes turned red as she bit her lips. It seemed that she was in a dilemma. Then she shook her head: “Thank you for your concern, Mister Jian. It’s nothing really. I just got water on me accidentally.”

Jian Yan frowned, looking back at the people behind her. Then looking back at her, he took out a tissue from his coat pocket: “Please use this to wipe yourself. It’s cold, you need to be careful before you catch a cold.”

Cheng Man’An took the tissue and saw him leave. She regretted not coming earlier.

Because she knew Jian Yan was the male heroine of The Deadly Strike, everyone knew him as a veteran actor. Although he was good at acting, he was not as popular as those little teen idols, and because he was old, all he could do was act.

Especially when it came to fancafes, they weren’t as good as the movie stars Lin Shaosi and Shu Ran.

However, he was known in the circle for his gentleness and popularity. When Cheng Man’An was inserted into the production team, she ended up dragging down the process. On the other hand, even though the production team didn’t say anything in front of her they were obviously not satisfied. Still, they could only shake their heads at this new person, looking at her like a straw person, but Jian Yan had talked with Cheng Man’An.

Cheng Man’An was an expert on taking advantage of people with his gentle character personality which was the best type to make use of, and would sometimes result in an exceptional effect.

As soon as she rolled her eyes, a plan began to form in her head. She deliberately pinched her skirt to express her nervousness and uneasiness: “Mister Jian, may I ask you a question?”

“You can.”

Cheng Man’An said softly, “I’ve heard that you have a sister. I wanted to ask you, how do you discipline your sister.”

She curled a strand of wet hair behind her ear, revealing her beautiful face, and said with distress: “My sister has misunderstood me deeply. My father was never around. I always thought that as a big sister, I should take care of her more, but…”

Jian Yan thought for a while, then asked,”Your sister is the assistant of Shaosi?”

Cheng Man’An nodded and sighed: “At home, we all love her very much, but we never expected her to become more vicious by the day. I really don’t know what to do.”

When he heard this, Jian Yan said, “I didn’t care much about my sister, but…”
