Chapter 27: Her Mother Was The Worst Chef (1)

Jiang Yun hastily rushed back. The commander, seeing him in such a hurry, followed behind him, and Jiang Yun was too worried to notice that his commander had tagged along.

The commander pushed down his glasses and saw the expression on Jiang Yun’s face for the first time.

This is interesting.

As soon as he entered the room, he saw a little girl standing there, looking bewildered. Her eyes were red, and one hand was stretched upward with traces of scalding red on it.

“What’s going on?” Jiang Yun strode forward and held Gu Yuanyuan’s hand up. When he saw that it was only red and there was no injury, his heart which was hanging in mid-air finally dropped.

“Are there any other injuries?”

Gu Yuanyuan shook her head. “Dabao …”

The commander’s eyes flashed with surprise as he raised his eyebrows. Did she call him Dabao?

When a bodyguard brought over a basin of cold water, Jiang Yun immediately put Gu Yuanyuan’s hand into it. The cold water alleviated the burning pain on Gu Yuanyuan’s hands and she sighed in relief.

She was wearing an apron, so the sparks which blasted from the pot spattered only on her hands. Fortunately, Zhan Yang arrived quickly and immediately pulled her out of the kitchen and took off her apron, so she was only a little red.

Since her body was too delicate, the pain from the redness of her skin felt as though it were burning.

Gu Yuanyuan was determined to hold back her tears, but it was too painful—much more painful than simply bumping her hand. She couldn’t hold back and started crying, and Zhang Yang, who was initially calm, became frightened and hurriedly called Jiang Yun.

She tried to stop crying but couldn’t.

This was embarrassing.

She wanted to make supper for her son, but as soon as she arrived, she blew up her son’s kitchen. Gu Yuanyuan really wanted to die of embarrassment.

“I’m okay. Don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt.” If she wanted to say this, she would have to stop crying with her puffy red eyes to make it sound more convincing.

Compared to how it felt at the start, the current pain was just about tolerable for Gu Yuanyuan.

“I’m sorry, Dabao. I didn’t expect it to be like this…” Gu Yuanyuan wanted to hide out of embarrassment.

Jiang Yun didn’t look very good. “What are you doing in the kitchen?”

Gu Yuanyuan thought Dabao was blaming her for getting into trouble in the kitchen. She felt that she was more and more unlike a mother—mainly because Jiang Yun’s aura was too strong and completely suppressed her, but she didn’t realize this.

“I wanted to make you scrambled eggs with tomatoes… You didn’t eat much at Shu’s Mansion…” Gu Yuanyuan felt a little frustrated for the first time. She could recall that she was shocked herself not too long ago. How could she fry eggs in a frying pan?

After explaining the situation carefully, she said frustratedly, “It’s all your mother’s fault.” Gu Yuanyuan glanced at the man dressed in his military uniform and ended up swallowing her words.

“…I’m useless. I forgot that I wasn’t a good cook.”

Jiang Yun’s chest moved up and down; apparently he was enduring something. Gu Yuanyuan thought he would scold her for such a big mistake.

That was a normal thing to assume. If a child played too hard and broke a toy, they would also feel self-conscious and berate themselves far worse than the parent.

But Jiang Yun’s reaction was beyond her expectation. His voice was low, but he was not angry. “Don’t go into the kitchen again. The kitchen can be repaired after the explosion, but if you become injured, how would I deal with it?”

Gu Yuanyuan nodded just like a good child would.

The bodyguard quickly took care of the kitchen, and it became apparent that the explosion described by Zhang Yang was slightly exaggerated. To be precise, the pan had exploded, and then the fragments smashed into the kitchen glass, causing the glass to shatter and make a loud noise.

The preliminary judgment was that the fire was very large and that the pot was too dry. At that time, Gu Yuanyuan was still cutting tomatoes, and she forgot when she had started the fire. When she found that the bottom of the pot was red hot, she quickly poured the eggs in.

At that time, the pot had no oil, so the eggs immediately burnt. She then poured oil onto the eggs in a hurry, which led to the fire flaring up… In short, the frying pan then exploded.
