Chapter 28: Sanbao’s Inquiries (1)

Jiang Yun gave his mother time to adjust to her new surroundings. He wanted to make her feel at ease and be comfortable in his own home. He wanted to let her know how well off he had become and that she can easily do whatever she wants. As he brought Gu Yuanyuan into the bedroom, he casually pulled open the drawer and saw a gun lying inside. Afraid that Gu Yuanyuan might be scared if she saw the gun, he instantly pushed the drawer back in. He quickly opened the second drawer and casually took out an ordinary box.

Inside the box was a gold engraved sleek black card; however, compared to the luxury feeling that exuded from the black card, its overall appearance still looked quite plain and inconspicuous. Although, one could still notice the card’s worth after simply glazing at its outside appearance. He pulled out the black card and nonchalantly handed it over to Gu Yuanyuan.

Gu Yuanyuan: “…”

After Jiang Yun did this, she took a step back and lightly stared at the black card as if it was thief’s money.

Gu Yuanyuan shook her head in refusal. “Dabao, I have money.”

From the million yuan that Cheng Zhenhua had given her, there was still more than 900,000 yuan left.

When a mother couldn’t make money to raise her children, then she would be a failure. How could she let her son provide for her when she should be the one doing all of that and not the other way around? Not to mention, she didn’t want them to pity her even more so.

“Are you going to treat me as an outsider and act formal with me?” Jiang Yun said as he quietly looked at her.

Oh gosh, Dabao, why are you acting coquettish with your own mother!

Gu Yuanyuan was screaming inside her heart. How could she refuse that look of her son? She felt that if she shook her now and refused his kind offer, she would only make her son sad. Even if she didn’t want it, she had to silently take the black card.

As Jiang Yun looked at the time, he noticed that it was already early in the morning. Gu Yuanyuan was still applying an ointment with one hand, but from the way she did it, it was not very convenient in the slightest. Therefore, Jiang Yun made a decision to help her.

He remembered the images of Gu Yuanyuan taking care of him and his brothers in his memory.

Gu Yuanyuan tactfully refused. “Dabao, actually, it’s just a minor…” It’s not broken! Hey!

However, Jiang Yun only answered her with a wringing dry of a towel. Her eldest son just smashed her words of refusal. He lightly held her face, and he carefully wiped it with gentleness.

Gu Yuanyuan was forced to shut her mouth.

After a while, Jiang Yun suddenly spoke, “Mom, there’s something you haven’t told me yet.”

“What?” She asked as she slightly tilted her head up, accidentally letting her son touch her face with his busy hands.

Jiang Yun hesitated. He seemingly wanted to ask, but at the same time, he didn’t want to ask it either.

GuYuanyuan: “???”

“Let’s forget about it.” Jiang Yun shook off his head as if trying to erase his supposed question. “It doesn’t matter.”

Rather than forgetting it just like how her son wanted, Gu Yuanyuan became interested instead and generously said, “Don’t worry, it’s fine. Ask about anything. As long as this mother of yours knows it, I will tell you everything.”

However, Jiang Yun, on the other hand, was currently applying some essential oil on her little face with a slight clumsiness— an essential oil was prepared before by Zhang Yan.

While looking at the expression of Gu Yuanyuan’s face, he finally smiled a little and said, “It’s really nothing.”

When GuYuanyuan saw that he still persisted and truly didn’t ask her a question, she had no choice but to give up and stop her insistence. She laid down on the bed under the strong demand of her eldest son.

As she was about to drift into a slumber, she asked about the big doll. She euphemistically said that she didn’t need such a big doll— even though she quite liked it herself.

She was always aware that this felt somehow weird and strange in a way, but she decided that she needed to properly act as a mother. She had to bring out her motherly feelings and show them to her beloved sons.

Jiang Yun moved his way near her. He picked up the big doll and threw it away at the foot of the bed. He said his goodnight to GuYuanyuan, and then left the room afterwards.

Gu Yuanyuan stayed silent for two seconds before she rolled over at the end of the bed and stared at the big doll which was currently lying on the old ground. After staring at it for ten seconds, she finally pulled it up and brought it to her bed.

Jiang Yun returned to his room, and after washing, he was now half-lying on his bed. On the screen of his phone, there was an open chat dialogue box of Gu Yizhou.

A couple of hours ago, Gu Yizhou sent over a few messages to him, and as well as a single yellowish old photograph.

Gu Yizhou briefly told Jiang Yun how he came across Gu Yuanyuan. At the same time, he also told him about the recent situation. Although Gu Yizhou hadn’t really said much regarding the details, Jiang Yun could immediately deduce what was happening just from the few words of his brother.

After Jiang Yun finished reading the messages of his brother, many of his doubts and confusion had been answered.

As he quit WeChat, Jiang Yun swiftly called Zhang Yan, immediately barking orders at him. “Go and check all about Lu Wenchen.”
