Chapter 3: She Has Good Grades and Nice Hair

Today was Monday and the first day for students to officially start attending the classes in City A’s first private school.

Shen Wanying carried the uniformed bag on her shoulder. She was quietly walking towards the school while wearing a smile on her face after the winter vacation. There were many students who were like her. They walked or ran to school. But most of them would look at her when they pass by.

“Look! Look over there! It’s our Lady!”

“It’s a new semester and our Lady is still beautiful and elegant!”

“I wonder why her grade was so good and she didn’t even get bald?”

“… You, just begone!”

The comments from her classmates were loud enough to be heard by Shen Wanying. Usually, she would return them with Lady Shen’s elegant and dignified smile.

Consequently, more eyes would fall on her.

Shen Wanying had long been accustomed to people’s gazes. She raised her hand and brushed her hair aside and continued to walk toward her class.

“Did she just brush her hair to show off how thick her hair is?”

Shen Wanying: “…”

This student was really obsessed with her hair.

“Perhaps curly hair will make it appear to have more volume.”

“Then, I will perm my hair after school to make it curly!”

“Wake up girl… The school doesn’t allow you to have a perm.”

“… Damn it!”

Currently Shen Wanying, who was the subject of their conversation, calmly walked into the school building.

Shen Wanying’s hair was naturally born with a little curl, inherited from her mother’s blood. Her mother had a quarter of British blood and her hair wasn’t pure black, but a little brown.

***

She walked into the classroom at 7:15 A.M. It was fifteen minutes before the early self-study.

There were only ten students in the classroom. They were all chatting in groups of twos and threes. When they saw Shen Wanying come in, everyone greeted her, and then they continued to engage in their own conversations. Shen Wanying put the schoolbag on her desk, then glanced at the boy sitting next to her.

All the seats in their class were separated by a single row. The student who was sitting next to her was currently sleeping. His name was Ji Yao, the first in their grade.

Ji Yao’s parents were both teachers in their school. Considering the pressure the high school had given, his parents took him to live in the school ’s teacher dormitory. Because he lived in the school, Ji Yao was the first to come to the classroom every day. Though, it made no difference because he went to the classroom every day to sleep, even in class.

Yet, he always managed to take the first place.

Ji Yao had many avid fans in the school in addition to being a top student. Naturally, it was all thanks to his good-looking face. After all, the girls in the school were quite realistic about the object of their adoration.

A girl in the corner saw Shen Wanying watching Ji Yao, and whispered to her friend, “Do you think Lady Shen really likes Ji Yao?”

“Ah?” Another student whispered, “If my opponent is her, then doesn’t that mean I don’t have any hope? “

“Oh! Did you ever think you had hope?”

” … “

While they were busy gossiping, Shen Wanying had taken out the textbook and sat down on the seat. There were more and more students coming into the classroom. After the teacher came, everyone began to study. Only Ji Yao was still sleeping soundly. The teacher knocked on his desk twice, but he didn’t show any signs of waking up. So, the teacher could only shake his head and leave him alone.

After the early self-study, the teacher led an unfamiliar boy into the classroom. He wore the school’s uniform. All of a sudden, the students in the class suddenly became excited.

“What is happening??? Is this handsome young man a transfer student?”

“Ah ah ah ah ah ah he is really handsome!”

“Was he transferred into our class? He looks even more handsome than Ji Yao!”

“You can praise him for being handsome, but don’t step on our Ji Yao!”

There was so much noise that Shen Wanying couldn’t help but look at him.

The moment Huo Cheng stepped into the classroom, he saw Shen Wanying was sitting quietly inside. This was his first time seeing the real 17-year-old Shen Wanying. She looked even better than in the photos. Her hair was longer than when they got married and she was wearing a classic bow hairpin on it.

Huo Cheng saw her looking at him. Her eyes met his for a moment, then she quickly looked away.

“Okay, everyone be quiet!” The teacher slammed the teacher’s desk to make the restless students calm down.

“Quiet! Let me introduce your new classmate who transferred to our class today. Let him introduce himself first.” The students’ expectant eyes were all directed to Huo Cheng. They were looking forward to his introduction.

Under the attention of many people, Huo Cheng’s expression didn’t change a little bit. He said briefly, “Hello everyone, my name is Huo Cheng.”

After he said this one sentence, the whole classroom was still quiet. Apparently, everyone was still waiting for him to continue introducing himself. So, after the awkward three seconds, the teacher noticed something was wrong and asked Huo Cheng, “Are you done yet?”

“Done.”

“… Ok.” The teacher pacified the noisy class and wrote Huo Cheng’s name on the blackboard. Then, he arranged a seat for him, “Just sit by the window.”

“En.” Huo Cheng nodded and walked towards the seat with Shen Wanying’s bag on it.
