Chapter 146: Deceiving Uncle Sheng (45)

It was pitch dark when Shu Nuan left the forest. She looked up towards the stars in the sky, admiring them one by one as she tried to find the brightest one. Once she found it, she looked up at it for a long time, and her eyes began to sour. She couldn’t help but raise her hand and rub her wet eyes.

Soon, people from the Shenghe Manor found her outside the city and brought her back to the manor.

When she entered, Li Yuan ordered another person to visit the Yulin Academy. She asked for the reason, to which Li Yuan responded, “The prince was worried about you, so he went there to find you.”

Shu Nuan pursed her lips and suddenly refused to return to Sheng Courtyard.

Li Yuan saw that she was going to go out again, so he hurriedly asked her, “Where are you going, Miss Shu Nuan?”

“To wait for His Highness.”

For a moment, Li Yuan was stumped for words, but he did not stop her.

When Shu Nuan walked to the door of the palace, she squatted down on the steps, holding her knees as the wind blew cold. She didn’t care about the guards standing outside the door either.

These guards had trained their skill of keeping calm and they did not disturb her from beginning to end.

However, it was not long before Shu Nuan heard the horses approaching.

Perhaps she had been here for a long time and thus could recognize the sound of Sheng Qianmo’s horse. She raised her head and looked with wide eyes at Sheng Qianmo riding on the horse, with his men soon coming into view.

He bridled the horse at the main door, grabbed the whip in his hand, and looked at her from a high position.

But his face was grave and stern. His thin lips were evidence of something: displeasure.

He had planned to return to the palace to teach the little devil, who had worried him so much, a good lesson. Even if she cried, he would let her remember this for a long time. But when he’d ridden back to the manor, he’d seen a vague little figure on the stone steps from a distance. When he stopped the horse, he found that it was his little girl.

Shu Nuan raised her head to look up at him. Her eyes were bright, watery, and clean, reflecting the light of the moon, as if a thin curtain of water, which was beautiful beyond description.

Her squatting down there and looking up at him, it made his heart instantly douse the fire of displeasure. Even his vision was utterly shambled.

Shu Nuan stood up and took the initiative to stretch out her small hand toward him.

“Your Highness, dismount carefully.”

Sheng Qianmo laughed at the little girl, sure that he wouldn’t please her, but when he got off the horse, he still grabbed her little hand, hold it as though he knew it was his.

Sheng Qianmo squeezed her little hand mercilessly and said, “I’ll whip you into shape later.”

After Shu Nuan didn’t speak, Sheng Qianmo, pulled her back to the courtyard to eat.

“Someone spent a lot of money to kidnap me. Just outside the city, in a forest, they tied me up and kept me there until dark, and then let me go.”

Before Sheng Qianmo could ask, Shu Nuan explained, and she also rolled up her cuff and showed him the ligature marks on her wrist.

She skipped mentioning Xuan Jiu, as she didn’t want Sheng Qianmo to know of his existence. But she hadn’t lied either, since the kidnapper’s intention hadn’t been to hurt her. He hadn’t even dared to touch her and had only used a knife to threaten her. And even then, the knife hadn’t left a scratch, since its purpose had been to draw Xian Jiu out.
