Chapter 179: Deceiving Uncle Sheng (78)

Both Shu Nuan and Xuan Jiu had heard the still-distant noise.

“They are here!”

From their position on top of the hill, she could see the army that had set out last night returning.

Ji Xili and Ningcheng Yuan were among them. They rode at the front and quickly widened the distance with most of the soldiers, with only a few people following them, and headed toward Shu Nuan.

Ji Xili’s face was sullen. She dismounted from her horse first, followed by Ningcheng and some of the soldiers.

The sight of Xuan Jiu dressed in Nanchao clothing surprised them, and they also noticed Shu Nuan standing beside her. Ah’Qi had already begun to fly away upon hearing the gallop of horses.

Ji Xili looked at the scene for a moment, before she ordered, “Shoot down that eagle! That eagle wants to send back news to the Nanchao!”

“No!” Shu Nuan yelled.

She didn’t know for sure what had happened, but she had an inkling.

Xuan Jiu gave a cold stare to Ji Xili and said, “Do you dare to touch it?”

Ningcheng caught up at this moment and saw Xuan Jiu wearing that cold expression. He recalled that he’d seen him in the portrait given by Su Huang to Sheng Qianmo a while back. He was just a little boy.

Ningcheng Yuan saw how nervous the boy was, coughed, and said, “Don’t touch that eagle.”

Ji Xili didn’t refute the command, but she glared at Shu Nuan.

Shu Nuan looked back at her and mumbled, “Where is His Highness?”

“General Ning, General Ji. I have confirmed that the poisonous insect had really came from her belongings.”

The moment he finished reporting, Xili rushed toward Nuan. But Ningcheng managed to get in her way and said, “Xili, calm down!”

Xili struggled hard and hissed, “Shu Nuan! If anything happens to Sheng Qianmo, there is no way I will let you go!”

The soldiers behind her shouted, “Kill her! Revenge for the Fourth Prince!”

Ningcheng Yuan turned and stared at him.

“Is it up to you to talk?”

But then, many soldiers echoed the shout.

“Kill her!”

Most of these soldiers had been brought along by Sheng Qianmo. Now that Qianmo had been severely poisoned on his way to the Changsheng mountain ridge, and had to return to the camp, who could spare the culprit?

“All right, don’t you think this is not messy enough?”

Su Huang had arrived late and glanced at Shu Nuan and Xuan Jiu. Although the two of them had held a private meeting early in the morning, taking advantage of Qianmo and his team were at the critical juncture of going to war. Still, he was calm and rational. He said, “First detain these two and wait until Sheng Qianmo wakes up before making a decision.”

The soldiers came forward to tie the two of them.

Even when Shu Nuan was detained, she was still confused and asked aloud, “What happened to His Highness?”

Su Huang looked at her and said, “I reminded Qianmo about you, but he chose to believe you without reservation, but you… let him down too much. Now it seems that you sent a message back to the capital just to get close to him.”

Shu Nuan stared at him and whispered, “Can I see him?”

She did not believe what he’d said.

She didn’t think they would listen to her explanation. She wasn’t clear about what had happened, but it seemed Sheng Qianmo had been poisoned, and they seemed to think she had something to do about it.

Moreover, Ji Xili had found them both red handed.

However, she would like to meet Sheng Qianmo.

He should always know what kind of person she is.

But Su Huang rejected her with some sarcasm, “No.”
