Chapter 30: Trapped in an Elevator (1)

Gu Yuanyuan was worried that she would have no chance to understand Jiang Yun’s childhood because she knew that if she asked Jiang Yun herself, she would only get a few simple details.

Considering Dabao’s current situation, he certainly wouldn’t say anything.

Ji Peichuan didn’t seem to notice Gu Yuanyuan’s surprised expression. He continued to use the same tone as he said, “In the past, I thought that he was cruel as a child. At that time, he was one head shorter than the others.”

Gu Yuanyuan thought for a moment and asked, “How old was he then? Where did you see him? “

Ji Peichuan paused to recall and said,”He was about ten years old when I found him living under a bridge pier.  Someone tried to take that sport from him, and that’s when the fight started.”

Gu Yuanyuan felt uncomfortable in her heart. She lowered her head and remained silent.

Ji Peichuan glanced at her and said, “Later, when my father saw how ruthless he was, he recruited him into the army.”

Gu Yuanyuan raised her head abruptly and looked at Ji peichuan with burning eyes. He only paused and smiled. “Ah Yun hasn’t contributed much while in the army, but he has great talent in business. He said that his dream is to reunite with his family one day and live in a big house where everyone has their own room.”

“Now it seems that his wish has come true,” Ji Peichuan said sharply. “I have known him for 20 years, and this is the first time I have seen him so happy.”

Gu Yuanyuan scrunched her nose as she looked up and said earnestly, “Next time, I will definitely visit your parents.”

Ji Peichuan’s father brought Jiang Yun into the military camp. Even though Ji’s family didn’t adopt Jiang Yun, they certainly took care of him. It was necessary to thank him for this visit.

Ji Peichuan: “…”

He was thinking about how to decline; Ji Peichuan’s parents had both retired from the military and were enjoying their remaining years, and his mother was over 60 years old. If a 17-year-old “friend” suddenly appeared, he was afraid that his parents wouldn’t be psychologically prepared.

However, seeing the girl’s serious appearance, Ji Peichuan couldn’t refuse even if he wanted to, so he replied with silence instead.

Then he looked at the little girl and asked the question he wanted to know and that Jiang Yun hadn’t explained before: “Why was she so young?”

Gu Yuanyuan: “…”

How can an ordinary person casually ask this question to someone they’re not familiar with? Luckily, it just so happened that the person who asked was not ordinary. When Gu Yuanyuan was thinking about how to refuse to answer, Ji Peichuan said with tacit understanding, “Sorry for my rudeness.”

Gu Yuanyuan breathed a sigh of relief, revealing a loving smile.

Ji Peichuan looked away. He really didn’t want to see a little girl smiling kindly at him.

However, his series of tests proved that Gu Yuanyuan was Jiang Yun’s real mother.

It was not a prank nor was it fake.

But what was the reason behind this? Jiang Yun’s team was confused and even he was baffled by this phenomenon.

He and Jiang Yun have been brothers and friends for many years. He once heard him say that his mother had already died. Now, a little girl appeared saying she was Ah Yun’s mother. Even if Jiang Yun personally verified this, he also knew that with Jiang Yun’s character, he would never joke about matters like this.

But Ji Peichuan thought more… What about their similarities?

If it was a trap that the enemy had deliberately sent, it would not be too coincidental.

He couldn’t help but blame himself for overthinking this. Fortunately, a series of tests just now dispelled any remaining suspicion in his heart.

Gu Yuanyuan’s reaction was real and natural—without any trace of acting.

Ji Peichuan, who was known as the humanoid lie detector in the military, was even more accurate than the instrument itself. Ordinary people dared not talk to him, but Gu Yuanyuan was unaware of this.

Ji Peichuan sent Gu Yuanyuan to the entrance of the hospital and added her WeChat before leaving.

After the car left, Ji Peichuan looked at the slowly shrinking figure of Gu Yuanyuan outside the window. It was good that Jiang Yun had found his mother, but their relationship would be exposed one day.

Jiang Yun had an underage mother. If this matter was exposed, it would cause a stir.

The people of the research institute were focusing on the research of different creatures every day. There might be a chance that Gu Yuanyuan would be invited to be a subject.

Thinking about it, Ji Peichuan was speechless. It was Jiang Yun’s mother, not his. Why was he so attentive?

Jiang Yun, that boy, will take care of it.

Thinking this way, Ji Peichuan’s slender eyes narrowed slightly like a fox.

Gu Yuanyuan sent a WeChat message to Jiang Yun: 【Dabao, I’m in the hospital.】

After exiting Jiang Yun’s account, she saw that Shu Ran’s avatar had more than a dozen red dots… She hadn’t noticed this until now.

As she walked to the hospital, Gu Yuanyuan started to read the messages. The messages had been sent since last night, but she hadn’t looked at her phone at all.

Shu Ran: 【Xiao Yuanyuan, what is the relationship between you and my second brother?】
