– Why? Because of this human woman? Out of fear of death? Why the hell are you doing this? The most important thing now is to get out of this body!

The demon’s voice broke into a scream, because, although he was a demon, he did not understand the commander’s actions.

Their kind, by nature, has always used people at their discretion. And from Lucas’ point of view, Derrick’s behavior was not at all demonic.

— Do you know how the atmosphere in the world is now? Everyone is heatedly discussing whether we should change the commander. This means that the demons’ patience is already at its limit. Everyone is waiting for the commander to appear and lead everyone. And you want to give up all this because of a human woman,” Lucas pointedly spat out these words.

At first, the demon thought that Derrick was only curious and carried away only by ordinary interest, but now it went beyond all limits of reason. The commander did not even think about how to get out of this body. Which means I wanted to stay close to Judith as long as possible. Which was already wild.

Lucas’ voice became louder and louder, causing the sleeping Duchess to flinch slightly. Derricka quickly shut the demon up by showing his bright eyes. The servant bit his tongue, but there was so much more he wanted to say. Pour out all thoughts about the current situation onto the commander.

“Please think about what is more important,” he finally said, thinking about these words for a long time, and disappeared into the fog, like Anna.

The faint sound of a sigh echoed throughout the room as the demon evaporated. Derrick swallowed dry saliva. It seemed to him that now he stood at a fork in the road, on the path of choice: abandoning Judith in order to catch Hannibal; or refusing to capture the demon to protect her.

The dilemma, which could not be resolved, plunged Derrick into distant disappointment.

Judith couldn’t relax even in her sleep. When she closed her eyes and faced the darkness, the blood-red gaze followed her everywhere, as if trying to eat her. The enemy over and over again drove the Duchess into a corner from which it was impossible to get out. This made it even more creepy. That is why Judith woke up in fear and surprise.

Goosebumps ran across my skin from the chill. She was alone in the room. The realization of this fact made my heart beat pitifully. But the door suddenly opened sharply, making me shiver and pull the blanket tighter. However, only the Duchess and her husband could enter the room without knocking. Therefore there was no reason to worry.

Finding Judith awake, the demon blinked hastily. His eyes instantly turned purple again.

– Everything is fine? – he asked, standing at the door.

In case Judith is still trembling with fear, the demon will try to keep his distance. However, Duchess’s heart regained some stability as she looked at Derrick. So she nodded weakly, and he began to slowly approach the bed.

– Sleep. It’s still midnight.

Turning her head, Judith saw darkness. The Duchess used to love the night and silence. But now such calm was the most terrible thing in the world. In dreams it was always dark and wet, just as it is now in reality. Just remembering this made Judith tremble, afraid that she and the child would be swallowed up at the same moment.

“Derrick,” she extended her hands to him. – Give me a hug.
