The Duchess and the Devil - Chapter 80.2
At that moment, Hannibal’s strong grip loosened, and Judith collapsed to the ground. Air filled my clogged lungs. And the Duchess, lying on the cold floor, clutched her stomach. His vision was blurry, flooded with tears.
The tall man holding her by the neck was now pressed against the wall. Judith, wiping away tears, tried to focus her vision and could not believe her own eyes when the vision became clear. It was Derrick.
– Judith! – having defeated Vincent, the demon called her.
But the girl, confused, did not understand the meaning of his words at all. But at that moment, long brown hair caught her eye. Sylvia stood in front of her. Her brother’s face disappeared along with her appearance. It was at this moment that Judith realized that she was hallucinating again.
– Long time no see, Commander.
Sylvia… No, Hannibal laughed calmly. The gloomy smile that flashed from ear to ear was reminiscent of the one that the Duchess always saw in her hallucinations. Sylvia was the devil. And her shy side was just an act all this time. But at that moment another thought came to Judith’s head: perhaps the woman was obsessed with him not out of love, but only because of the influence of the devil on her consciousness.
The demon’s endless changes in his face made him tremble. Derrick had an extremely sour and expressionless expression.
“It’s not like we could greet each other.”
“Right… Seeing you in this body, you must have been unable to solve the problem?”
Derrick squeezed Hannibal’s neck even tighter, grinning.
“Come to think of it, I didn’t have to do anything special.” The curse is lifted by the death of the seer.
The demon opened his eyes wide and then laughed shrilly. The sound echoed throughout the hall. This was the moment when even Derrick did not understand the reason for such ridicule, which is why he involuntarily grimaced and frowned.
Judith rolled her eyes dangerously, feeling the blood dripping onto her.
“You couldn’t even leave the human body?” If you lose to me, you can be destroyed without a trace, right?
The demon looked at the dagger buried deep in his chest. It was more painful than he thought. And yet, he tried not to change his face so as not to betray his feelings. And just as Derrick was about to open his mouth, Hannibal at the same moment pushed the demon with enormous force. A window in the second-floor hallway broke and two men fell out.
– Derrick! – Judith shouted, barely raising her weak legs, grabbing the window sill.
There were two bodies lying in the garden. The black light they emitted flashed from time to time in the shadows of the greenery. The Duchess hurriedly ran along the corridor, almost falling again, as she stumbled every step. But despite all this, she managed to reach the first floor.
While walking down the stairs, Judith sprained her ankle. But she didn’t have time to pay attention to such pain. For her, Hannibal was too big and intimidating. And Derrick’s duel with him was enough to plunge her into mad panic and anxiety.
The fear did not subside, but only grew with every thought about this battle.
On her way to the front door, Judith found knights and servants lying on the floor, amazed at what she saw. Fortunately, they were all alive, they just lost consciousness. Convinced of this, the Duchess again impatiently followed into the garden. But the moment Judith opened the front door, the roof of the villa collapsed with a huge crash.
The Duchess reflexively crouched down, thinking that she was about to be crushed. But when she slowly raised her head, she felt no pain, frozen in the fetal position. Holding her breath, the girl tried to stop trembling, looking at what was happening in the garden.
An unidentified black light flashed endlessly everywhere. Like fog, it swept through the trees, leaving behind a strong fire that seemed to be able to burn the whole world. When he swept over the statues, he turned them into powder, which instantly crumbled. It was a destructive and aggressive force.
The landscape of a quiet garden overlooking the beach quickly turned into a desert, like any battlefield.
Seeing the confrontation with Hannibal, Derrick frowned, because he did not think that it would be so easy. The thought of the King’s absorbed power was still in the demon’s head. But he couldn’t let his guard down, because then his life could end forever.
Derrick deliberately staged the scene of betrayal, which caused Judith indescribable fear and grief. And using hidden magic, the demon waited for Hannibal to appear, who could not help but take advantage of the moment.
