The Duchess and the Devil - Chapter 80.1
Less than three days had passed since Judith arrived at the villa. The Duchess did not tell anyone about this, not even her relatives. And if someone wanted to visit her, Derrick ordered the butler to send them back, citing the health of his wife. And Judith couldn’t understand: how did her brother find out about this so quickly?
This wasn’t even the strangest thing about the situation. Vincent came all the way here just to meet her? Every thought was questioned. Moreover, my brother still remained a candidate.
– What are you doing here?
The girl recoiled and barely opened her mouth.
Vincent’s voice, unlike hers, was quite firm, even harsh. The man took a few steps, coming closer.
– You were not in the capital.
The heart began to beat quickly again, jumping up to the ceiling and falling at the same moment. Every step brought Judith pain, and her chest squeezed pitifully. It became increasingly difficult to fight the hallucinations, especially seeing his smiling face. The face of her brother immediately appeared before her eyes, strangling her, laughing joyfully.
Breathing became more and more rapid. Even amidst all the circumstances, it was clear: the man in front of her was not a hallucination. But Judith still couldn’t look him straight in the eye. Instinctively sensing danger, the body trembled.
“He seems to care about you a lot.”
Screaming in pain, Judith fell to the floor, helplessly covering her stomach with her hands.
“And I dedicated my whole life to these hapless purebloods.”
Reflexively, the Duchess shrugged. However, contrary to expectations that the man would grab her neck, he only gently stroked the necklace. As before, the ruby lost its bright glow from the demon’s powers, making a loud cracking noise.
“How annoying,” Vincent’s lips curled ugly.
In one motion the man pulled the chain and broke it. The beautiful necklace, like straw, crumbled in his hands. All of Judith’s hopes were crumbling before her eyes. Throwing the stone to the floor, the demon grabbed the Duchess by the long and thin neck, like a deer’s. It felt like my lungs were compressed. The bright golden eyes, usually similar to Judith’s, were now filled with blood.
“So you have to die so that I can get rid of my anger?”
– Brother, please… Don’t do this, please.
“Do you still think that I’m your brother?” This is so naive and stupid – the same look and appearance, but completely different features.
Judith understood perfectly well that Vincent was no longer her older brother, with whom she had grown up since childhood. Of all people, he turned out to be Hannibal.
“But what about my brother,” Judith’s voice was hoarse, barely audible.
– Your brother? His consciousness has long been absorbed.
It seemed that now all hope was lost, and death was so close. But Derrick left to deal with the curse. And if you give him a little more time, he can make it. But there was no certainty about this. The Duchess was already out of breath, and her gaze was blurred.
“I thought there was nothing to worry about because your relationship was bad.” And I never expected it: a human woman would become an ambush.
Judith’s strength gradually weakened. But she could not shake off thoughts about her own baby. Now she was only worried about the life of the child, because the Duchess herself was on the verge of life and death. What will happen to him?
