Chapter 12 – Editor’s Authority (1)

Ishiel, Behemoth, and the big boy all froze, and the waving curtains blown by the wind became suspended in the air.

Soon, a bunch of shattered pieces of paper appeared from nowhere and laid over the landscape. It contained contents overwritten over another on the same page several times. The parchments looked fragile as if they could crumble at any moment.

Suddenly, a page loomed to the surface where its contents were stricken out in black. Some blurry texts also remained…

This newly drafted script was not part of the original novel and was naturally unknown to Jeongjin. The text then seemed to merge with The Prince of the Albion Kingdom: The Final High.

But, in the last paragraph of the page depicted Jeongjin’s current crisis. It was blank, hardly any ink on its page.

Now, it became more apparent to him how this unique skill worked: activating it was analogous to rewriting previously written scenarios in the pages of this mysterious fluttering pages.

So, Editor’s Authority allows me to revise the story in real-time, Jeongjin thought in fascination.

But he couldn’t waste any more time, he needed to hurry fast as the time limit slowly reduced with the seconds that passed. Jeongjin’s hand on the pen trembled as he glanced through the pages of nondescript letters one after the other.

He thought, ‘I hope the skill still works even if I write in a Korean alphabet.’

Thus, a mystic scene unfolded as Jeongjin began to write something on the latter part of the paragraph, blue ink mixed with gold flowing out from his pen as he scribbled away.

After the contents of the manuscript were modified, the papers then scattered and disappeared. Shortly after his revision, the world transformed before him.

Windows and walls, the floors, and ceilings faded as the room become drowned in scribbled black lines. The letters soon disappeared, basking everything in a blinding glow.

Jeongjin felt an overwhelming sensation as the world soon became visible before him.

He was back to when it was only him, Ishiel, and the cat was inside the room. The only thing different was that he was gasping for breath. And before the girl in front of him could ask him, the door opened with a loud bang.

“Clayo Asser, get up now!” A raging boy demanded as he entered the room.

The boy immediately rushed for Clayo. Back then, he was unable to distinguish the stranger due to how fast the events unfolded. He needed time, and this was exactly what he had modified in the paragraph.

This world originates from the contents of the novel, and indeed, when the story undergoes revision, the physical world follows after it.

Now that he was met with instant and terrifying power, Jeongjin felt amazed.

‘What authors would give such privilege to editors like this! He thought.

But he had no time to admire as the boy was quickly approaching him.

“Do you know how much I’ve been calling around because you jumped into the river? Huh? Do you?! You looked so pitiful now you almost convinced me your acting is real!”

Jeongjin in Clayo’s character quickly hid behind Ishiel and, relying on her might, “Help me!” he pleaded.

With her swift reflexes, Ishiel casually stopped the boy who was even twice as big as her.

“I don’t know what’s going on, but I’ll have to restrain you from using your fists,” she said.

“Ugh!”

Using her sword, the girl knocked the boy down without any fuss. Likewise, Clayo’s knees gave out from the lack of strength after he had suffered a nauseating feeling of floating earlier. Thus, the two boys laid motionless on the ground, leaving Ishiel standing in confusion.

The girl poked Clayo with her sword, asking, “Are you okay, Clayo?”

“I told you I’m not fine…”

Clayo’s body became wet with cold sweat. Seeing his weak countenance, Ishiel instantly panicked. She gathered him tightly into her arms, his body feeling light as a puppet.

“Oh, what kind of boy is this? I should be careful. Your bones are too fragile,” she uttered to herself.

Ishiel’s tone wasn’t teasing him, yet he was unable to contain the embarrassment that crept inside.

Last time, it was also this girl who carried me… Jeongjin thought.

He smelled the familiar scent of a fresh rose that lingered in his nose. Jeongjin carried in the girl’s slim, but strong arms shortly lost his consciousness.

Jeongjin slept for another two days.

He woke up on the third day and had to eat plenty of food to revitalize his body from the incident.

Occasionally, he would think about the Editor’s Authority. Despite the curiosity in him, he was wary of activating the skill a second time because he didn’t know much about its limitations. He knew that such an overpowered ability would have a limit on how much it could be used.
